Six Alpha Kappa meetings down and only five to go. Time flies fast when you are having fun.

Our chapter continues to grow with more new members; with 27 members it is now hard to hold meetings in our homes. My Alpha Kappa goal for this year was to find a place to hold chapter meetings not in our homes since we usually have 20 sisters attend. Our January meeting was held at a restaurant which seems to work.

We have been busy; Charity Gaming has been our most profitable fundraiser with one event in August and another scheduled in February. Our December craft show at Dakota High School was our most successful in quite a while, so we have already signed up to do this show again in December 2019. And the 13 AK members who worked the Festival of Trees for Children's Hospital of MI truly loved this project. Jean Varga, Marleen Mrenza, Mary DeRey and Gail Basile did a spectacular job decorating the tree Alpha Kappa donated to the event.

Wreaths Across America was our best year yet with our members donating 15 wreaths. Twelve Alpha Kappa members attended the Hope for Hero's Comedy Club Wounded Warrior fund-raiser. Furthermore, we are proud of getting a star on the Galaxy wall at Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids because Cyndi's granddaughter donated her hair in our name. And of course, donations have been made to all Michigan Scholarships.

Over $200 was raised for Children's Hospital of MI with our Motown Soup Project. Connie Gillette and Mary DeRey will be selling packaged soup mix during Fun Day as we continue this Alpha Kappa's Children's Hospital MI fund-raiser. Soup mix will be for purchase, so remember to bring money to buy (not for ordering).

Michelle Doherty is recuperating from her January surgery and will have her next (and hopefully her last) surgery March 20th. Kris Lynch Barns is recuperating after recently having seizures. Your prayers are always welcome. Alpha Kappa sisters look forward to Fun Day and surely will be bringing the best desserts for the Dessert Auction for St. Jude. We'll see you there
